Timothy D. Waid is certified Maginoo-Mandala and Mataas na Guro (Master Instructor) of the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali system. He is the Senior Vice-President and Director of Training of the Pekiti-Tirsia Global Organization and national director for the USA.

Guro Waid began his study of the Filipino martial arts during service in the U.S. Marine Corps while stationed in the Republic of the Philippines. During this period he trained under several veterans of WWII USAFFE and USAFIP,NL Guerrilla Forces. Beginning his training in Pekiti-Tirsia in 1988, he traveled across the United States training with several first and second generation instructors and with Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje, Jr. in the US and the Philippines. From 1993 to 1998 he returned to the Philippines with Grand Tuhon Gaje where he received private instruction in the advanced systems of Pekiti-Tirsia. Guro Waid is the only instructor certified in the original systems of Doce Methodos, Contradas, and Contra-Tirsia Dubla-Dos.

Guro Waid is the first instructor promoted to the rank of Mandala by Grand Tuhon Gaje and is the recipient of the Sumakwilan Award for Excellence in Instructional Leadership and the Grand Tuhon Conrado B. Tortal Crimson Award for introducing the Pekiti-Tirsia system to the Force Reconnaissance Battalion, Philippine Marine Corps.

As Director of Survival Edge Systems / Pekiti-Tirsia Tactical Training Institute, Mr. Waid is responsible for all tactical training curriculums of the Pekiti-Tirsia system. Mr. Waid instructs military units and law enforcement agencies worldwide in operator/officer survival and specialized tactical training programs that include the Military Edged-Impact Weapon System for Special Operations Forces, the Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Safety System, and SWAT Team CQC. Mr. Waid has extensive training and operational experience in the Asia/Western Pacific region and currently serves as a Consultant and Tactical Training Instructor to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, government agencies, and private business.

Mr. Waid served with distinction in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant and as an Intelligence Sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard.
